Credit-Boosting Tips
Many Utah Credit Repair customers are interested in further actions they can take to improve their credit score. Here are some tips to help you do so.
- Correct any errors. First things first...before you can maximize your credit score, you have to make sure your credit report is accurate. Chances are, it contains at least a few errors. Review your credit report carefully for any inaccurate or questionable items. You can then notify your Utah credit repair service of these items so they can initiate the dispute process for you. If the credit bureau cannot substantiate them, they will be removed from your report.
- Start paying down balances. After you have completed Utah credit repair, your next step is to begin paying down the balances of your credit cards. The best strategy to do this is to focus on one card at a time. For example, you might select your highest-interest card, make as large a payment as you can on it each month, and pay just the minimum payments on your other cards. Keep doing this until the card is paid off, and then move onto your card with the next highest interest rate.
- Always pay on time. Though Utah credit repair may have succeeded in removing some late payments from your credit report, the best way to keep them off your credit report is to prevent them from happening in the first place. Always pay at least the minimum payment by the due date. Recent late payments can wreak havoc on your credit score.
- Don't close unused accounts. If you have credit cards that you are not using, don't close the accounts after Utah credit repair. Closing accounts reduces your total credit capacity, which will hurt your credit score. You're better off cutting up the credit card and letting the account remain open.
- Don't max yourself out. A big determinant of your credit score is the percentage of your credit that you're actually using. Ideally, you should keep this figure at about 25%-30%. Try not to max out any one card, as creditors frown upon this.
